Aldwalk - A Weekend of Fun and Adventure
On Friday the 16th September 2005 Crofton Scouts, along with other Scouts from the Wakefield area, travelled to Aldwalk Camp in North Yorkshire for a weekend of fun! There were about 70 Scouts and loads of supervisors so we were really well looked after.
We slept under canvas, about 7 Scouts to a tent, and the food was first-rate: we had breakfasts of sausage, bacon, beans, tomato and eggy-bread; dinners: sandwiches, crisps, fruit, chocolate bars and melon. Tea on the Saturday was meat & potato pie and peas followed by apple crumble and custard. Just like being at home!
Well Supervised Activities
The activities organised for us consisted of coarse fishing, canoeing, biking, hiking and football - all well supervised.
A tuck shop was available to top up our calorie intake when we were peckish between meals.
Invested
Two of us, Neil and I, were invested as Scouts in the 2nd Wakefield (Crofton) Scout Troop, by the District Commissioner while we were there, changing us from Cubs to Scouts. Quite an honour!
We arrived home on Sunday at 5:30 - very tired but full of stories to tell our families. Thank you to all the supervisors, you really made it a "Weekend of Adventure".
Come and Join Us
If you are aged 6+ and would like to join the Scouting Movement and eventually enjoy super activities like this, get in touch with Crofton Scouts. Why not come along and see what we get up to? You'll be glad you did!
