Finances

Subs Crofton Scout Group is funded solely by Member Subscriptions, Fund Raising and Donations. Premises costs are kindly met by Crofton Parish Council and Wakefield Youth Service. Members' subs for Crofton Beavers, Cubs and Scout sections are currently set at £2 per session and have been maintained at this level for several years now.

Subs are collected in six installments over the school year - each of £13 to be paid at the start of each half term. Preferred method of payment is by CHEQUE made payable to "2ND WAKEFIELD CROFTON SCOUT GROUP" with your child's / children's name on the back. Alternatively CASH in a SEALED ENVELOPE, again CLEARLY MARKED WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME.
giftaid it Crofton Scout Group is registered with the HMRC Gift Aid scheme. Using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give in subs, we get an extra 28 pence from the Inland Revenue, helping your donation go further. This means that £100 can be turned into £128, just so long as donations are made through Gift Aid. Imagine what a difference that could make, and it doesn’t cost you a thing. So if you want your donation (i.e. subs) to go further, Gift Aid it. Just click here. It’s that simple.

Even if your child is no longer with the Group, we may still be able to claim Gift Aid back on any subs which you paid any time within the last six years. Please submit a Gift Aid Declaration and we will do the rest. Completed forms may be returned by e-mail.

You can find out more about Gift Aid from the HMRC website (HM Revenue & Customs), or from the Scout Association Factsheet.

How are the subs spent? At the end of every financial year, capitation fees have to be paid to Wakefield District Scout Council. These fees cover insurance and other costs associated with membership of the Scout Association. The amount to be paid depends upon the number of members and adult leaders in the Group. The current year's capitation charge was £1878.80.

Other significant costs of running the Group include tents, camping equipment, leaders' uniforms, training and materials used in the weekly activities (e.g. food, drink and craft materials). Please note that all scout leaders are unpaid volunteers. Camps are intended to be self-financing, paid for directly by those attending camp, but any shortfall is met from the Group's funds.
Bank Account Crofton Scouts' funds are banked with HSBC.
A.G.M. A full account of the year's financial income and expenditure is presented at the Annual General Meeting.
