Crofton Beacon entry for October

After the long summer holidays Crofton Scouts began their autumn programme with a ‘quiet’ evening playing games to ease everyone back in. The following week took us out onto the streets of Crofton a scavenger hunt. Wolves patrol triumphed with a completed list, closely followed by Lions patrol. A trip around Crofton is never complete without ending up at the chip shop, the most important item on the list to find.
The annual Wakefield District Water Weekend at Aldwark was attended by ten of Crofton’s Scouts. Some had been several times, but for a number it was their first visit, and hopefully not their last. The weather on the Saturday was inclement to say the least, however all the Scouts who attended kayaked, canoed and cycled despite it.
Crofton Scouts gained a few new Scouts moving up from Cubs before the end of the summer term, so spent an evening completing a variety of games and activities in order to help new and older Scouts to learn and think about the Scout Law and Promise.
Most recently, the Scouts have been making pop bottle rockets, which we have started testing out.

Thank you to all parents, family members and friends who attended the Crofton Scout Group’s AGM on September 24th. Your support is always appreciated, and we hope you enjoyed seeing a little of what we do.

Scouting is open to boys and girls aged 10 ½ to 14.
